On November 24, 2025, Gregory Carson, a 23-year-old man from Fort Pierce, Florida, was shot during the middle of the day in the parking lot of the Pine Creek Village apartment complex on the 1200 block of North 27th Street. Police received a 911 call about a gunshot victim at around 12:27 p.m. and arrived to find that an altercation involving a group of men had taken place in the lot, during which Carson was struck by gunfire. He was rushed to a local hospital, identified in subsequent reports as HCA Lawnwood Hospital, where he was pronounced dead despite emergency treatment.
Witnesses and neighbors later described a chaotic and deeply disturbing scene. Reporting based on interviews with residents indicated that the confrontation and shooting were livestreamed on social media, with one neighbor saying she watched Carson being shot at extremely close range on her phone before realizing it was happening just outside in the complex. Locals told reporters they saw him around the area frequently and characterized him as a “nice, good person” who enjoyed listening to rap music, expressing shock that he was killed in broad daylight in a familiar courtyard. The shooting, and the fact that it unfolded on a live video feed, left many residents shaken and calling for justice on his behalf.
According to Fort Pierce police, the violence followed some sort of dispute between Carson and a separate group of males in the parking lot; one man in that group pulled a gun as the argument escalated and fired, hitting Carson and then fleeing the scene. Investigators have said they believe the killing was an isolated incident and that there was no ongoing threat to the wider public, but they have emphasized that the investigation remains active.
As of the most recent public updates, no arrests have been announced in connection with Carson’s death. Police have released a detailed description of a suspected shooter: a young Black male with a medium complexion, about six feet tall, slender build and short haircut, last seen wearing a black T-shirt, a black skullcap and gray joggers as he fled after the shooting. Authorities have repeatedly stressed that the suspect remains at large and have appealed for witnesses or anyone with video or other information to contact the Fort Pierce Police Department or to provide anonymous tips through Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers while detectives continue to investigate the circumstances that led to the fatal encounter.
