On the morning of November 1, 2025, Kaethe Oesterreicher, an 83-year-old woman, was found fatally shot inside the Del Mar Heights home she shared with her husband, Johann, after San Diego police responded to a call about an unresponsive man at a residence on the 12000 block of Caminito Del Pasaje. When officers entered the house around 7:07 a.m., they discovered both members of the elderly couple lying inside with fatal gunshot wounds, and they were pronounced dead at the scene.
