In a quiet Nyack neighborhood, a devastating tragedy unfolded, leaving the community in shock and mourning the loss of 55-year-old Anita Lam-Wright. On November 1, 2025, police were called to her home on North Midland Avenue for a welfare check after a relative reported a potential domestic incident. Attempts to contact the residents were unsuccessful, leading to the deployment of the Rockland County REACT Team to safely enter the residence.
Once inside, authorities discovered a grim scene. Anita Lam-Wright and her 52-year-old husband, Jeffrey M. Wright, were both found deceased from gunshot wounds. The Orangetown Police Department is investigating the incident as a murder-suicide. Evidence found at the scene suggests that Jeffrey M. Wright fatally shot his wife with a shotgun before turning the weapon on himself in a different area of the house. The shotgun was recovered at the scene.
