In the early morning hours of November 2, 2025, a tragic series of events unfolded at a residence on Blake Street in Killeen, Texas, culminating in the death of 25-year-old Vincent Abenoyap Mbo. Killeen police officers were dispatched to the home around 3:10 a.m. following reports of shots being fired. Upon their arrival, a man ran out of the house, informing the officers that someone inside had been shot.
As the officers began their investigation, they came under fire from within the
residence. The dangerous and escalating situation prompted the deployment of the Killeen Police Tactical Response Unit. SWAT officers breached the front door and discovered Vincent Abenoyap Mbo lying near the entrance, suffering from gunshot wounds. While the officers attempted to render aid to Mbo, a 36-year-old man inside the home continued to fire at them.
The officers returned fire, striking the suspect. Mbo, however, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect was taken to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in stable condition. The officer who shot the suspect, a four-year veteran of the department, was placed on administrative leave pending an investigation, which is standard procedure.
Following the incident, the Killeen Police Department identified the suspect as William Arturo Scott. He was charged with the murder of Vincent Abenoyap Mbo. After being treated for his injuries, Scott was booked into the Bell County Jail. A judge arraigned him and set his bond at $2 million. The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.
