In the early morning hours of Sunday, November 2, 2025, a domestic dispute in a residence on the 3000 block of P Street, Southeast, in Washington, D.C., turned fatal, leaving 56-year-old Richard Walker dead from a gunshot wound. Metropolitan Police Department officers from the Sixth District responded to a report of a shooting at approximately 8:52 a.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered Mr. Walker unconscious and not breathing.

Fire and EMS were dispatched to the scene and attempted life-saving measures, but their efforts were ultimately unsuccessful, and Richard Walker was pronounced dead at the residence. The incident was quickly determined to be of a domestic nature by investigators.
Present at the scene was 51-year-old Shawnta Aiken, also a resident of Southeast, D.C. Officers detained Aiken in connection with the fatal shooting. Following an investigation by homicide detectives, Shawnta Aiken was formally arrested and has been charged with Second Degree Murder While Armed in the death of Richard Walker. While an arrest has been made, the police have not released specific details about the relationship between Aiken and Walker or the circumstances that led to the deadly confrontation as the investigation continues.
