A workplace shooting on the morning of November 8, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas, claimed the life of 24-year-old Karen Bautista and two of her colleagues. The incident occurred at a landscaping supply company located in the 4400 block of Stahl Road on the city's Northeast Side.
The tragedy unfolded around 7:30 a.m. when a co-worker, identified as 21-year-old Jose David Hernandez Galo, arrived at the business and opened fire on his fellow employees.
The sudden violence sent workers fleeing for their lives as gunshots echoed through the workplace. In the chaos, several employees managed to escape and sought refuge at a neighboring property, immediately calling the police for help.
When San Antonio Police Department officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a grim situation. Inside the business, they found Karen Bautista, along with 48-year-old Selvin Chacon and 38-year-old Sergio Chacon, all deceased from gunshot wounds. The victims, including Bautista who was originally from Honduras, were all employees of the company.
Following the initial response, a manhunt for the shooter commenced. Law enforcement, including SWAT officers and negotiators, secured the area and began a search for Hernandez Galo. A few hours later, he was found at the scene with a fatal self-inflicted gunshot wound. The motive for the shooting remains unclear, though police have stated that the attack was not random. Subsequent reports from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement revealed that Hernandez Galo was a Honduran migrant who was in the United States illegally.
