On a cold January afternoon in 2017, the life of Paul J. Byrd, a 46-year-old Black man from Buffalo, New York, was tragically cut short. On January 9th, at approximately 4 o'clock, Byrd was seated in the driver's seat of a vehicle on Cornwall Avenue when he was ambushed. An unknown individual, or perhaps several, opened fire on his car, striking him multiple times. Despite the immediate response of emergency services, Byrd succumbed to his injuries later that day.
