In the early morning hours of November 12, 2025, the community of Warrensburg, Missouri, was rocked by an act of violence that claimed the life of 39-year-old Tony Dale Barron. A male Army veteran, Barron was killed when he courageously intervened in a domestic disturbance. The incident unfolded around 7:20 a.m. when police received calls about a dispute in the 700 block of Cedar Drive.
Barron, an unarmed neighbor, stepped in to help a woman involved in the altercation.
His selfless act was met with deadly force by the assailant, identified as Glyzua Ingram, an off-duty Airman stationed at the nearby Whiteman Air Force Base. Ingram shot and killed Barron before fleeing the scene. The woman who was the initial victim of the domestic dispute was treated for non-gunshot-related injuries and released from a local hospital. Arriving officers encountered Ingram fleeing on foot. He fired his weapon multiple times in the direction of the officers, though none were injured.
A perimeter was quickly established, and local schools and businesses were placed on lockdown as law enforcement searched for the armed suspect. A little over an hour later, at approximately 8:36 a.m., Ingram was found deceased in a wooded area south of the initial scene. Authorities believe he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The Warrensburg Police Department hailed Tony Barron as a hero for his extraordinary courage. In a statement, they commended his decisive and selfless actions, saying he not only protected the initial victim but likely prevented further harm to the community. Friends and family remembered Barron, a father, as a compassionate man who would not hesitate to help someone in need, a characteristic tragically exemplified in his final moments. He had recently graduated from the Johnson County Recovery Court, marking a significant positive turn in his life after struggling with personal challenges.
