Chris Dixon, a 58-year-old male from Killeen, was shot inside a home on Elyse Drive on the afternoon of October 25, 2025. Police were dispatched at approximately 3:59 p.m. and found him unresponsive with a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead by a justice of the peace at 5:40 p.m. An entry on a national memorial site later recorded his death as a Killeen gun homicide on that date.
Investigators said the shooting happened during a domestic dispute inside the residence.
The suspected shooter remained at the scene, where officers detained him and transported him to the Killeen City Jail. Police described the incident as isolated while detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division continued their work.
By October 26, authorities had presented the case to the Bell County District Attorney’s Office, which returned a complaint charging 39-year-old Bruce Lee Roland III with murder under Texas Penal Code 19.02. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Larry Wilkey, and his bond was set at $1,000,000; county jail records list him in custody on that charge.
Local reporting identified Roland as Dixon’s stepson and noted that the killing came just weeks after the death of Dixon’s wife, adding a layer of grief for friends and neighbors who remembered the couple’s devotion to each other.
