Sung Jin Farris, a 36-year-old Korean-American man, tragically passed away on April 30, 2014, in Killeen, Texas. He was found shot on April 20, 2014, outside an apartment complex on Wolf Street in Killeen and later succumbed to his injuries at Darnall Army Medical Center. The investigation into his death revealed that a car was seen leaving the scene, and two individuals were later identified as suspects.
In February 2024, a Bell County Grand Jury indicted Johnathan Shaw Allen Holmes and
Zykeshalla Tyree Murphy for the murder of Sung Jin Farris. Holmes, 36, from Temple, Texas, and Murphy, 32, from Killeen, were both arrested in December 2023. Murphy was extradited from Ashland, Ohio, while Holmes was arrested in Texas. The case had remained unsolved for nearly a decade until these arrests were made.
The investigation is ongoing, and the Killeen Police Department continues to work on the case to ensure justice for Sung Jin Farris. The community and Farris's family have been deeply affected by his loss, and they continue to seek closure and justice for his untimely death.
