In the late hours of a Saturday night, the atmosphere at Club Cedar in Louisville's Russell neighborhood was shattered by gunfire. It was just before midnight on October 25, 2025, when 45-year-old Andrew Cochran was shot. Patrons who were gathered under tents in the back of the club scrambled for safety, unsure of what had just transpired. When the chaos momentarily subsided, Cochran was found lying in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to his head.
Emergency services were called to
the scene, and Cochran was rushed to UofL Hospital with critical injuries. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away the following morning. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office later confirmed his identity. A witness who was just feet away from Cochran when he was shot expressed her shock and fear, stating she didn't see the person who fired the weapon.
In the wake of the fatal shooting, Louisville Metro Alcoholic Beverage Control issued an emergency suspension of Club Cedar's license. The establishment had a history of violence, including another fatal shooting the previous November. As of the latest reports, Louisville Metro Police are actively investigating the incident, but no suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made. Authorities have asked for anyone with information to come forward and contact the LMPD's Crime Tip Line.
