Known affectionately to his loved ones as 'Dredo,' McRae was not just a resident of the city but a budding musician with a song that had recently graced the local radio waves.
A father to two children, his life was filled with promise and the vibrant energy of an artist on the rise.
The final moments of McRae's life unfolded in the Buechel neighborhood. Around 2:30 p.m., officers from the Louisville Metro Police Department were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 4600 block of Fegenbush Lane after receiving a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered a grim scene. McRae was found with multiple gunshot wounds. His car, riddled with bullets, had the driver's side door open, suggesting a desperate attempt to escape the violent assault. Emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene, his future extinguished in a hail of gunfire.
In the wake of the shooting, a profound sense of loss enveloped McRae's family.
