In a tragic incident that unfolded in Waterbury, Connecticut, Marc Adams, a 55-year-old Black / African American male, was killed on October 6, 2025. He and Carlene Williams, 51, were found deceased in their Beverly Avenue residence from gunshot wounds. The discovery was made by a family member who had been asleep in the house and woke up around 10 p.m. to find them.
An argument over finances is believed to have preceded the killings.
A neighbor's surveillance camera reportedly captured the audio of an argument earlier in the day where Williams was heard yelling at her son about not contributing to household expenses. Authorities have indicated that this dispute escalated, leading to the fatal shootings. Prosecutors stated that Williams was shot in the neck and head, while Marc Adams was shot in the back of the head at close range.
The primary suspect in the double homicide was identified as Javian Adams, the 25-year-old son of the victims. He was apprehended by Watertown police the following day in connection with a reported burglary near Lake Winnemaug. Javian Adams has since been charged with two counts of murder, murder with special circumstances, murder in the commission of a felony, criminal use of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, first-degree reckless endangerment, and larceny of a motor vehicle. He has a prior history of domestic violence charges, including assault and strangulation.
Javian Adams is being held on a $5 million bond. His public defender has stated that he denies all charges. The incident has been described by police as a tragic case of domestic violence. The deaths of Marc Adams and Carlene Williams marked the seventh and eighth homicides in Waterbury in 2025.
