On the morning of May 6, 2024, a burst of violence shattered the quiet of a Waterbury, Connecticut neighborhood. Lashawn Nance, a 19-year-old Black / African American male, was on Wood Street when gunfire erupted. Police received reports of a shooting at approximately 10 a.m. and arrived to find a grim scene. Nance had sustained gunshot wounds and was in critical condition. He was rushed to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
