In the fall of 2025, the life of 18-year-old Keyontae Young, a Black / African American male, was tragically cut short. On the evening of Monday, October 6th, a series of violent events unfolded in Marengo County, Alabama, that would leave a community in mourning. Young, a student at Thomasville High School, was fatally wounded during what authorities described as a shootout between two rival groups. The gun battle erupted in multiple locations, shattering the peace of the quiet, rural county.
