In the quiet neighborhood of Glasgow Village in St. Louis County, 14-year-old Duwan Morgan was enjoying a typical evening inside his home on Hobkirk Drive on October 8, 2025. A vibrant and caring young man with a bright future, he had recently started high school and was known for his love of the outdoors, particularly fishing. On this particular evening, he was in his bedroom playing video games, a familiar pastime for a teenager.
His mother and two brothers were also in the house at the time.
Outside, a dispute between several individuals escalated into a gun battle. As the sound of gunfire pierced the evening air around 6:10 p.m., a stray bullet penetrated the walls of the Morgan home, striking Duwan. The St. Louis County Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter alert and 911 calls, discovering the young boy with gunshot wounds. Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The preliminary investigation confirmed that he was not the intended target but an innocent victim caught in the crossfire.
The senseless death of the young male left his family heartbroken and a community in shock. For weeks, the investigation into his death continued with no arrests made, prompting pleas from his family for anyone with information to come forward. Witnesses reported seeing several teenagers, some wearing masks, fleeing the area after the shooting.
In the weeks that followed, the St. Louis County Police Department made progress in the case. On October 31, 2025, a 16-year-old male suspect was taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon. Shortly after, on November 12, 2025, two more 16-year-old male suspects were arrested. They faced charges of second-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon, and first-degree assault. All three teenagers were remanded to the custody of the St. Louis County Family Court.
