Joseph Powell, a 17-year-old Black male, was shot on the evening of October 9, 2025, in Pittsburgh’s Hill District and died a short time later at a local hospital. Police were dispatched at about 8:50 p.m. to the 2300–2400 block of Wylie Avenue after a ShotSpotter alert registered approximately 20 rounds.
