On the evening of October 11, 2025, a shooting on the campus of Alcorn State University in Lorman, Mississippi, claimed the life of 29-year-old Brekyra Fisher, a Black female from Vicksburg. The incident, which also left two other individuals wounded, occurred near the Industrial Technology Building at approximately 6:30 p.m. during the university's homecoming weekend.
