On Sunday, October 12, 2025, authorities in Dyer, Indiana, responded to a distress call regarding a violent domestic disturbance at a residence in the quiet suburban neighborhood. The incident, which unfolded on Beall Street, resulted in the fatal shooting of 35-year-old Lanell Riley, a male resident of nearby Gary, Indiana. Law enforcement officers arrived at the scene to find Riley suffering from fatal gunshot wounds outside the home. Despite emergency efforts, he was pronounced deceased.
