On Sunday, October 12, 2025, authorities in Dyer, Indiana, responded to a distress call regarding a violent domestic disturbance at a residence in the quiet suburban neighborhood. The incident, which unfolded on Beall Street, resulted in the fatal shooting of 35-year-old Lanell Riley, a male resident of nearby Gary, Indiana.
