On the morning of October 13, 2025, Dwanneich Hammonds, a 45-year-old woman from Charlotte, was found shot inside the parking garage of the Hazel SouthPark Apartments on Barclay Downs Drive. Officers were called just before 7 a.m., and she was rushed to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries; she later died.
