In the early morning hours of October 15, 2025, the life of 39-year-old Montana Lee Gunhus, a male resident of Waterloo, Iowa, was tragically cut short. At approximately 3:45 a.m., Waterloo Police officers were dispatched to 3137 Hammond Avenue following a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered a grim scene with two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds.
Emergency personnel, including the Waterloo Fire Department, quickly took over lifesaving measures that officers
had initiated. Despite their efforts, Montana Gunhus succumbed to his injuries at the scene. A second victim, a 28-year-old woman, was also found with gunshot wounds and was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
