Isaac Brocco Rivera, 18, a white male, died on October 18, 2025, after a shooting at Lakeview Park North in Lorain, Ohio. Around 6:44 p.m., as students gathered to take homecoming photos, officers were called to the west end of the lot and found Rivera unresponsive in a parked car with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to Mercy Health–Lorain Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators said the shot was fired when a juvenile family member handling a firearm inside the vehicle caused it to discharge. Police recovered a handgun at the scene but later determined it was not the weapon used; a second firearm retrieved from another location is believed to be the gun involved. Detectives have described the incident as an accidental discharge while the teens were seated in the car.
As detectives pieced together the moments before the gun went off, they coordinated with county prosecutors to determine potential charges in the case. Authorities have not announced any arrests and have not indicated that they are seeking additional suspects beyond the juvenile relative involved. In the days that followed, Lorain City Schools confirmed Rivera was a senior at Success Academy and opened counseling supports for classmates and staff grieving his loss.
