On November 19, 2023, a tragic incident unfolded in Lorain, Ohio, resulting in the deaths of four individuals, including 4-month-old Bandin Young. The police discovered the bodies after responding to reports of loose dogs in the area. Upon entering the residence on East 9th Street, they found Bandin, his mother Skylar Young, his step-sister Angel Isaac, aged 9, and the children's father, Tyler Young, all dead from gunshot wounds.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Tyler Young, aged 29, was responsible for the deaths of his family members before turning the gun on himself. Authorities believe that the shootings occurred sometime between 1 a.m. and 10 a.m. on that Sunday morning. A 9-millimeter firearm was recovered at the scene alongside two additional firearms. Despite the severity of the situation, there were no reports of gunfire heard in the neighborhood during that time frame.
Tyler Young had a history of domestic violence allegations. In May 2023, he was arrested on charges related to domestic violence and strangulation after an incident involving Skylar Young, who was pregnant at the time. Although she initially reported threats and physical abuse, she later recanted her statement, claiming it was a misunderstanding related to past trauma. This case had been presented to a grand jury but did not result in any indictments.
The community has been left devastated by this incident. Schools attended by Angel Isaac have expressed their sorrow and offered support to grieving students and staff. The loss of such young lives has sparked conversations about mental health and domestic violence within the community as investigations continue into this heartbreaking case.
