Edwin J. Guzman, a 36-year-old man from Lorain, Ohio, tragically lost his life on April 29, 2021. He was found shot multiple times inside his car, which had crashed into several other vehicles before coming to a stop in a yard on East 29th Street. Guzman was transported to Mercy Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Within five days, they arrested Joshua Oquendo, a 28-year-old man from Lorain, on charges related to Guzman's death. Oquendo was taken into custody on April 30, 2021, and later faced additional felony charges of tampering with evidence and obstructing official business. He was held on a $100,000 bond while awaiting trial.
The investigation revealed that Oquendo was responsible for the shooting, but the motive behind the crime was not disclosed. The Lorain Police Department praised the efforts of Detective Chris Colon and the entire team for their relentless pursuit of justice in this case.
