On the evening of October 18, 2025, in Gautier, Mississippi, the life of 18-year-old Arreyon Lett, a Black male, was cut tragically short. An argument erupted inside an apartment at the College Villa Apartments on Ladnier Road around 6:00 p.m., escalating to a burst of gunfire that would have devastating consequences. Lett, a senior at Gautier High School, was struck by the gunfire and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. Remembered for his magnetic personality and radiant smile, he was an honors student who was set to graduate in December. His teachers admired his respectful nature and warm heart, qualities that made him a leader among his peers.
The violence of that evening was not contained to a single victim. Three other individuals were also wounded in the shooting. The injured included a 15-year-old from Gautier and an 18-year-old from Ocean Springs. In a terrifying turn of events, a stray bullet pierced the wall of a neighboring apartment, striking and injuring a 31-year-old woman. The community was left reeling from the incident, which was described by investigators as an isolated event. The loss was deeply felt at Gautier High School, where students and staff mourned the sudden and violent death of a promising young student.
In the days following the shooting, the Gautier Police Department launched an intensive investigation. Their efforts quickly led to the identification and arrest of three teenage suspects. The individuals taken into custody were 18-year-old Camerson Duckworth of Gulf Park Estates, 16-year-old Micah Price of Gautier, and 15-year-old Reginald Hall III of Moss Point. All three were charged with first-degree murder in connection with Arreyon Lett's death. Authorities announced that the teenage suspects would be charged as adults. The investigation remains ongoing, with police indicating that more charges or additional arrests could be possible as they continue to piece together the events of that fatal evening.
