On a Sunday morning in Spanish Fort, Alabama, a grim discovery was made on the Causeway that brought a tragic end to the life of 41-year-old Veromonique Ntseful-Dubose. On October 19, 2025, a passerby noticed a vehicle stopped on the roadway and called 911, initially believing it to be a medical emergency. However, upon closer observation, the caller reported seeing bullet holes in the vehicle.
When first responders from the Spanish Fort Police and Fire Departments, along with Medstar,
arrived at the scene near the 1595 Battleship Parkway, they found Veromonique Ntseful-Dubose and her 36-year-old husband, Taurean Dubose, deceased inside a white Chevrolet Tahoe. The investigation into their deaths was quickly characterized by authorities as a murder-suicide. The Spanish Fort Police Chief, John Barber, stated that the preliminary investigation suggested this tragic sequence of events. It was later reported that Taurean Dubose was found with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Veromonique, a Black/African American female, was a resident of Mobile, Alabama. Her obituary paints a picture of a vibrant and active member of her community. Born on May 21, 1984, she was known for her involvement in her church, God's Kingdom Ministries, where she was a part of the choir, praise team, and youth ministry. A graduate of Mattie T. Blount High School in the class of 2003, she had been a flag girl and played in the band. She went on to attend Alabama State University, majoring in Theater. Her passion for the arts and her faith led her to teach praise dance to young people in her community.
The Spanish Fort Police Department has asked anyone with information relevant to the deaths to contact them. The investigation into the murder-suicide is ongoing.
