Brandon Dorsey, a 44-year-old White/Caucasian male from Plano, Texas, died after a shooting on the afternoon of May 17, 2025. The incident unfolded in a residential area of Plano, in the 5600 block of Woodhaven Court, where officers were called at about 4:30 p.m. for a reported shooting. When police arrived, they found Dorsey suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to his upper body.
Emergency responders with Plano Fire-Rescue treated Dorsey and transported him to a local hospital, but he
was later pronounced dead. The shooting happened in what was described as a neighborhood setting, and early public information did not include a detailed account of what led up to the gunfire or whether Dorsey and the alleged shooter knew each other.
The following morning, May 18, 2025, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Plano police arrested Carlos Arthur Schurman Mendes, 44, of Dallas, in connection with Dorsey’s death. Mendes was charged with murder and booked into the Collin County Jail. At the time of the initial reports, his bond had not yet been set.
Investigators did not immediately release the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including a possible motive, the events that preceded the gunfire, or whether anyone else was involved.
