Hector Javier Vargas, 17, a male of Hispanic/Latino ethnicity from San Antonio, was found in the early morning hours of June 1, 2025, lying in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds in the 400 block of Tidewind Street on the city’s South Side. Officers were dispatched just before 1:30 a.m.; medics attempted lifesaving measures, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
