Isaiah Phillips, 17, male, was shot during a pool party on Sunday night, July 20, 2025, at The Henry at Liberty Apartments on Liberty River Drive in northeast Harris County, part of the Houston area. Deputies said 25 to 30 teenagers were gathered without parental supervision when gunfire erupted. Investigators reported they were seeking multiple shooters; the gunfire struck three teens and left Isaiah Phillips mortally wounded. He was later pronounced dead after being rushed for medical care.
School officials with Galena Park ISD confirmed that Isaiah Phillips was a North Shore Senior High School student.
Witness accounts and early sheriff's office statements described a chaotic scene, with rounds fired into the crowd and partygoers scrambling for safety. Two other 15-year-olds—a boy and a girl—were hospitalized in serious condition but were expected to survive. The event unfolded just before midnight, and investigators canvassed the apartment complex and surrounding area for surveillance footage.
In the days that followed, detectives served a search warrant and brought several people in for questioning but announced no arrests. Authorities emphasized that the investigation was active and urged anyone with information to contact the Harris County Sheriff's Office or Crime Stoppers. As of late July 2025, the sheriff's office had not identified or charged a suspect in the killing of Isaiah Phillips, 17, male.
Reporting also revealed that, two weeks before the pool party shooting, separate charges had been filed from an unrelated roadside confrontation: court records show Isaiah Philip/Phillip was charged on July 18 with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and the teen driving the vehicle in that earlier incident, Chace Calicut, was arrested. Law enforcement did not establish a link between that July 6 case and the pool party homicide; investigators publicly stated they had not identified suspects in Isaiah Phillips's death.
