In a wooded area behind a Woodbridge, Virginia shopping center, a verbal dispute tragically escalated, ending the life of 29-year-old Tevon Dean Haskins. On the evening of May 21, 2025, Prince William County Police responded to reports of a shooting in the 14200 block of Smoketown Road. Upon searching the secluded area behind the shopping complex, they discovered three men suffering from gunshot wounds. Mr. Haskins was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other men, both 42 years old, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital.
Investigators determined that the incident was not a random act of violence. According to police, Haskins was approached by a man he had previously encountered. An argument broke out between the two, which ultimately led to the suspect firing multiple shots. The gunman fled the scene before law enforcement arrived. The investigation quickly pointed to a suspect, and the following morning, detectives located and arrested 45-year-old Dean Campbell of Fredericksburg.
Campbell was taken into custody without incident and has been charged with murder, malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is currently being held without bond. The case is pending in court.
