In the early hours of July 23, 2025, a tragedy unfolded in Milwaukee that cut short the life of 25-year-old Nakia "Nick" Thacker. A Black male, Thacker was inside his home on 84th and Fairmount at approximately 1:30 a.m. when he was awakened by someone attempting to break into his car in the parking lot.
Thacker yelled from his window for the individual to leave his vehicle. In response, a barrage of bullets was fired into his home, with one fatally striking him. Thacker died at the scene
