Antonio Tatum, a 37-year-old Black/African American man, was killed in a late-night shooting in Milwaukee on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. The gunfire was reported near North 2nd Street and West Wright Street, on the city’s north side. Milwaukee police said the shooting occurred at approximately 11:18 p.m. Tatum suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office later publicly identified him as the person who had been killed.
The shooting unfolded late in the evening, but investigators released few details about what happened immediately before Tatum was shot. Police did not publicly describe an argument, robbery, confrontation, or other event that might have led to the gunfire. Authorities also did not disclose whether Tatum was outside, inside a vehicle, or at a nearby residence when he was wounded.
