On the evening of July 31, 2025, Lebron Givuan, a 28-year-old male, was fatally shot on the steps of Pursuit Seattle Church in the city's University District. He was arriving for a weekly barbecue and young adult service with his wife and child when the incident occurred. The shooting, which marked Seattle's 23rd homicide of the year, is believed to have been a targeted attack.
According to reports, Seattle Police responded to calls of gunfire at approximately 7:18 p.m.
near Northeast 47th Street and 17th Avenue Northeast. Upon arrival, they found Givuan with a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite attempts to provide life-saving measures, he was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife and child were not physically harmed during the attack.
Witnesses reported seeing a suspect in a black hoodie flee the scene in a white Hyundai Elantra with black wheels and a shattered front passenger window. Surveillance footage captured a gunman exiting a white vehicle, opening fire, and then returning to the car before fleeing. A white Hyundai Elantra matching the description was later discovered engulfed in flames several miles from the church, in what authorities believe was an attempt to destroy evidence.
While no arrests have been made, the investigation into Lebron Givuan's death is ongoing. Church leaders have suggested that the shooting may have been related to Givuan's past, as he had recently become a member of the church and was reportedly turning his life around. Pursuit Church is offering a $50,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the case.
