On a Thursday afternoon, the life of 17-year-old Black male Amarr Murphy-Paine was tragically cut short. The promising junior at Garfield High School was in the school's parking lot on June 6, 2024, when a fight broke out between two other students. Known for his kind nature, Amarr stepped in to de-escalate the situation, an act of peacemaking that would ultimately cost him his life.
