In the predawn hours of September 11, 2025, the quiet along the 2900 block of South Military Highway in Chesapeake, Virginia, was shattered by the sound of gunfire. When Chesapeake police officers arrived at the scene around 2:09 a.m., they discovered 30-year-old Yhuri Vashon Brinkley, a Black/African American male from Norfolk, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite the immediate aid provided by the officers and the subsequent arrival of medics, Brinkley was pronounced dead at the scene.
