In the quiet community of Covesville, Virginia, a welfare check on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, led to a grim discovery at a home on Windward Cove Road. Officers from the Albemarle County Police Department arrived at the residence to find 77-year-old Dennis Miller and 76-year-old Frances Hooper-Miller deceased inside. Both had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
Authorities were initially called to the 5500 block of Windward Cove Road to check on the well-being of the homeowners.
Upon entering the house, they found Mr. Miller and Ms. Hooper-Miller, and both were pronounced dead at the scene. The Albemarle County Police Department is treating the case as a suspicious death investigation.
Based on their preliminary findings, detectives believe the incident was isolated and have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the shootings.
