In the early hours of New Year's Day 2022, a fatal encounter at a pizzeria in Moneta, Virginia, resulted in the death of 49-year-old James Sipos. The events of that morning at Lago Pizza on Moneta Road would lead to the arrests of two men, unraveling a narrative that began with a robbery and ended in a deadly shooting.
The Bedford County Sheriff's Office reported that the incident began with Clifton Minter allegedly robbing Shamanique Peter Mickle.
A few hours after the initial confrontation, Mickle returned to the pizzeria. It was during this time that an altercation occurred between Mickle and James Sipos. The dispute tragically escalated, and Sipos was fatally shot.
Following an investigation into the shooting, authorities arrested both Shamanique Peter Mickle and Clifton Minter. Mickle, a 44-year-old, was charged with second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Minter was taken into custody and charged with robbery in connection with the preceding incident.
