In the late afternoon of a summer day, the life of 18-year-old Jeremiah Brown was tragically cut short. On July 14, 2025, the recent graduate of Cane Ridge High School was in the parking lot of a Starbucks on Hickory Hollow Parkway in Antioch, Tennessee. An argument reportedly broke out just before gunfire echoed through the area around 4:20 p.m. Brown, a Black male, had been in a vehicle with two other individuals and had just stepped out when the fatal confrontation occurred.
Mortally
wounded, Jeremiah was rushed by a private vehicle to the TriStar Century Farms emergency room, arriving at approximately 4:28 p.m. From there, he was transferred to Skyline Medical Center for emergency surgery. Despite the efforts of the medical team, he succumbed to his injuries on the operating table later that day. The young man, who was remembered for his love of football, fashion, and making people laugh, was mourned by a large and loving family.
In the wake of the shooting, homicide detectives began an intensive investigation, canvassing the area for witnesses and surveillance footage that could shed light on the events that transpired behind the coffee shop. Their efforts led them to a suspect within a week. On the evening of July 21, authorities, with the assistance of the Lebanon Police Department, located and arrested 18-year-old Zachary Spitaliere in Wilson County. He was taken into custody at a relative's home and subsequently charged with criminal homicide in connection with Jeremiah Brown's death. As the investigation continued, no other suspects were publicly named.
