In the early morning hours of Sunday, July 13, 2025, a dispute at a nightclub on West Birnie Street in Gaffney, South Carolina, ended in the tragic death of 46-year-old Joshua Euron Wood. An argument between Wood and another man escalated to violence, resulting in Wood suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Following the shooting, Wood was transported by a private vehicle to Cherokee Medical Center at approximately 1:20 a.m.
After medical staff stabilized him, he was then taken by ambulance to Spartanburg Medical Center. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Joshua Wood succumbed to his injuries and passed away during surgery at 4:13 a.m.
The investigation into the shooting quickly led Gaffney police to identify a suspect. Investigators secured arrest warrants for Anthony Lee Jefferies Jr., age 35, charging him with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Jefferies was subsequently arrested and taken into custody. He is being held at the Cherokee County Detention Center.
