Wyllyam James Sheffey Jr., 20, a male, Black/African American, was driving through downtown Painesville on the evening of June 7, 2025, when gunfire tore through the intersection of North State Street and Rockwood Drive. Officers arrived just before 8 p.m. to find Wyllyam James Sheffey Jr., 20, in the driver’s seat of a car stopped in the roadway; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
