In the early morning hours of August 3, 2025, a senseless act of violence claimed the life of 7-month-old Zymir Demarco Smith in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The infant, a male, was asleep in his apartment on Collins Avenue when multiple gunshots were fired into the residence from outside. Responding to reports of gunfire around 4:15 a.m., Spartanburg Police officers discovered evidence of a shooting and a trail of blood that led them to the critically injured baby.
