In the quiet, late-night hours of Saturday, September 6, 2025, the life of 19-year-old Jamyah Daemonee Jones was tragically cut short by an act of violence. A Black female from Hampton, Georgia, Jones was found unresponsive with gunshot wounds outside a residence on Camp Branch Road in Sumter County, South Carolina. The Sumter County Sheriff's Office received a call about the shooting at approximately 11:45 p.m.
Upon their arrival, deputies discovered Jones and secured the area while
emergency medical services attempted to render aid. Despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The Sumter County Coroner, Robbie Baker, later identified the victim and confirmed the cause of death. An autopsy was scheduled to be performed at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston to provide further clarity on the circumstances surrounding her death.
Sheriff Anthony Dennis described the shooting as 'senseless violence' and assured the community that investigators were diligently working to identify those responsible.
