In the early morning hours of Friday, September 12, 2025, the life of 28-year-old Christopher Lewis Dendy Jr., a Black/African American man, was tragically cut short in a parking lot located in Greenville, South Carolina's Nicholtown neighborhood. Just after midnight, first responders were called to the scene near Roosevelt Avenue and Nichol Street, where they discovered Dendy with at least one gunshot wound.
He was emergently transported to Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital, but despite the efforts of medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries later that day. The Greenville County Coroner's Office subsequently ruled his death a homicide.
The investigation into the shooting moved swiftly. In the hours following Dendy's death, as news of the violence spread through the community, investigators diligently worked the crime scene. They had taken 41-year-old Daniel Alexander Brown into custody in connection with the fatal shooting. Brown was formally charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
