Vernon Selig, a 57-year-old White male from Rapid City, South Dakota, was found deceased on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. His body was discovered in the afternoon in an area near Victoria Lake Road and First Thunder Road, just outside of Rapid City, suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head. The Pennington County Sheriff's Office responded to the report and the subsequent investigation led authorities to classify his death as a homicide.
