Hafeez Qureshi, a 66-year-old male of Pakistani ethnicity, was tragically shot and killed on November 3, 2018, while working as a store clerk at Sunny's Food Mart in southwest Houston, Texas. Qureshi was well-loved in his community and known for his caring nature. On the day of his death, three armed suspects entered the store and demanded money. Although Qureshi complied with their demands, he was still murdered by the suspects.

Following the incident, a significant investigation was launched by the Houston Police Department. The breakthrough in the case came when police noticed a vehicle blocking a lane of traffic that matched the description of one they had been investigating. When officers approached the two men standing by the vehicle, they ran and dropped two guns, which were later identified as the weapons used in the murder and multiple robberies. Surveillance video from the scene also helped in identifying the suspects.

Four men were ultimately charged with capital murder in connection with Qureshi's death: Artavius Johnson , Daivion Gully , Deanjelo Wells , and Melvin Jones . The suspects were arrested without incident, and it was revealed that three of them were tied to three other robberies, including one at a convenience store just a week prior. The case drew significant attention due to the senseless nature of the crime and the impact on the local community.

Qureshi's friends and family continue to mourn his loss, and the community has shown immense support for his loved ones. The suspects are facing serious legal consequences for their actions, and the case remains a poignant reminder of the impact of violent crime on individuals and communities.
