Wayland Clark, a 24-year-old male from Houston, Texas, tragically lost his life on January 4, 2014. He was attending a large birthday party at a private residence in the 6200 block of Nyoka Street when the incident occurred. Around 1 a.m., unknown suspects sitting in a parked vehicle in a nearby business parking lot fired shots at the partygoers. Clark was struck by the gunfire and was immediately transported to Ben Taub General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation
into Clark's death led to the arrest of two suspects, Arlin Walbert Barrientos and Randy Larios. Both were charged with murder and admitted to their involvement in the shooting. Barrientos, aged 20, and Larios, aged 18, were taken into custody on January 12, 2014, and faced charges in the 208th State District Court.
The case highlighted the dangers of drive-by shootings and the impact such violent acts have on families and communities. Clark's death was a stark reminder of the need for continued efforts to address gun violence and ensure the safety of residents in Houston and beyond.
