Death by Force

Ar’mon Covington, 26, a Black male, stepped into the pre-dawn quiet of a BP station on Grant Street in Akron to stop a man who was harassing women in the parking lot. It was about 4:15–4:18 a.m. on July 6, 2025, when the confrontation turned deadly. Multiple shots rang out; officers arrived to find Covington mortally wounded, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The Akron Police later said he had tried to protect the women from the aggressor moments before he was killed.
