Consuelo D. Kerr, 53, a female of White/Caucasian ethnicity, was found fatally shot inside her Middletown, Ohio home on Sunday, July 13, 2025. Officers responding to 3013 Mohawk Street located Consuelo D. Kerr on the living room floor and attempted to contact her husband, 60-year-old Ronald Hazen Kerr, who remained inside and was armed. As officers tried to reach her, Ronald Kerr pointed a gun at them; the officers fired and he died at the scene.
The Butler County Coroner later confirmed that Consuelo D. Kerr died of multiple gunshot wounds.
Investigators said evidence indicated Ronald Hazen Kerr shot Consuelo D. Kerr before police arrived. Butler County Prosecutor Michael Gmoser later described the police gunfire as justified after determining Ronald Kerr aimed a weapon at officers while they were trying to get to Consuelo D. Kerr. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation processed the scene and compiled reports, including EMS records for both Ronald and Consuelo Kerr, as part of the officer-involved shooting review.
Neighbors' emergency calls reported that a husband had shot his wife just before officers reached the home. In the days that followed, authorities publicly identified the victims as Ronald Hazen Kerr and Consuelo D. Kerr, 53, and confirmed the investigation would run through multiple agencies, including BCI and the Middletown Police Department. Public records and memorial listings corroborated the date, location, and manner of death for Consuelo D. Kerr.
No arrests were made. The sole suspect named by authorities was Ronald Hazen Kerr, the husband of Consuelo D. Kerr; he died at the scene from police gunfire after confronting officers, leaving prosecutors to close the criminal inquiry with no charges filed against law enforcement.
