In the pre-dawn hours of June 2, 2025, the quiet streets of a southwest Oklahoma City neighborhood were broken by the sound of gunfire. Responding to a call around 3:45 a.m. near the intersection of SW 57th Street and Villa Avenue, police discovered the body of 37-year-old Cory Don Johnson, a Black/African American male. Johnson was found lifeless at the scene, the victim of a fatal shooting.
