On a summer evening in Brooklyn, what should have been a time of celebration for a recent college graduate turned into a tragedy that left a family heartbroken and a community searching for answers. Mitch Innocent, a 21-year-old man who had just earned his bachelor's degree in Homeland Security from the University at Albany, was fatally shot on June 26, 2025. He had his entire future ahead of him, with dreams of pursuing a career in cybersecurity, a field where he hoped to protect others.
